Situated on the side of Hakui Stream, the 17 towers bear the English slogan Livable City Anyang in Harmony with Mountains, WaterTranquility. There is a HopeBright Future. This work was conceived by M/M (Paris) in their first visit to the city for site survey. To the artists, this new town came across as a place swept up by chaos madness, rather than a new town built on a reasonable logical plan. In response to such an impression, the artists decided to intervene in what they felt as the madness d by reasonto focus on emotional responses in approaching this project. Struck by the gap between ideal urban planning everyday life, the artists noticed the superficial empty message featured in official tourist guide literatures redrew the message in English using the calligraphy materials they bought during their visit to Anyang. Through the manual process of redrawing each letter, the superficial meaning of the slogan became individualized. The redrawn slogans, translated renewed through the artists personal feelings, were made into large-scale towers that fit into the cityscape of the new town installed on the side of Hakui Stream.
