In a large box with a hologram projected onto it, viewers can see a “familiar, yet unfamiliar” image of the moon and Earth. This image combines an image of Earth as seen from space, with one of the moon as seen from Earth. Beyond the image of the moon, which we can see even with our naked eyes, the image of the whole Earth, which we have seen only indirectly with the help of astronomy, is no longer unfamiliar to us. This is because, even though we can’t see all of Earth at once, we put our feet on it and interact with it all the time. As with Earth, the moon, which we can observe with our naked eyes, is also a being that exists in reality. The artist’s work, which brings the images of the two together in a realistic way through a virtual reality device, reminds us that humans are ecological beings that depend on each other for their existence, underlining the significance of human community that is based on diversity and coexistence.
