The artwork preservation/maintenance project the 4th APAP featured tried to realize a common value of continuously producing new meaning of the artwork while maintaining the purpose of production of the public art on top of technical side of preservation, repair, relocate, or dismantle of the existing artwork. Grizedale Arts invited by the 4th APAP expanded and pursued this purpose of the artwork preservation/maintenance project. They supplemented insufficient function to existing public art, redesigned to maintain the function of existing art, and composed space to distribute the result of production by planning workshops associated with the region in the process.
Grizedale Arts that’s based in Lawson Park, Cumbria in Northern England suggested [Commons Room, under Transformation by the Beneficial Order of Useful Art, Re-Purposing Committee] project for the 4th APAP. This project is consisted of 3 parts; reforming Liam Gillick’s [Propose for a Public structure for Anyang Square](2007) first, and designing a playground to replace Anyang Playground ‘Maze Tower’ (2006) by flyingCity that was planned to be dismantled, and fortifying the foundation of the [Honest Anyang Market] for the self-sustaining operation of the community.
