[Making Marathon] approaches the variety of social landscape critically from handcrafts done at home to the maker fair that represents the open source making culture as an operation of the [Making Lab] as they started in a full scale. [Making Marathon] does an artistic reinterpretation of tools used in daily life, the space and context those tools are used, with the subject of ‘Tools Story’ in the center. Before this event, they hosted a preliminary workshop for teenagers in Anyang region to observe and collect tools around the Anyang Art Park. They thought about the concept of tool and device itself again while talking about discovering potential possibilities by designing new usages for the tools that are being used without any specialties in familiar places, and the reasons why they chose such tools. [Making Marathon], a project where Hackathon and storytelling meet is an invitation to a temporary community to realize an impossible dream by pursuing graceful failure rather than exquisite demonstration, and visionary culture of technology rather than state-of-the-art technology.
