Under the leadership of contemporary musician, composer, and accordionist Pauline Oliveros, and author and performer IONE, Deep Listening Institute engages in a wide variety of activities inspired by the concept Deep Listening, such as listening training, listening retreat, and performance. Oliveros is one of the most significant figures in the postwar contemporary music along with John Cage, and has been pushing the boundaries of composition throughout her career that began in the 1950s.
