Meat-shaped Rocks 육형암(肉刑岩)

Jackson Hong has continued to capture the society through ‘object design.’ He has constantly explored how objects reflect human history or how human history can be realized as objects again. Based on the fact that Anyang has been loved by families for playing in the water and having delicious foods, the artist projected Koreans’ tendency, which was to have meat together to strengthen a community’s bond, to rock images. The work, which consisted of two public tables and eight benches, looked like a collection of indoor decorative rocks or huge dining tables. Audience resonated with the joyful memories of Anyang in the quasi-monumental-totemic-communal space for craving affluence and appetite.
