This was a 8 hour long silent film, made based on the book [Finnegans Wake (Spending the night next to a dead person)}, written by James Joyce, played in a temporary stage inside of the Anyang Art Park during the exhibit period of the First Anyang Public Art Project. [Finnegans Wake] is a story of one night in Dublin starting from one evening and ending in early morning. It portrayed the subconscious or unconsciousness of a dream of Earwicker who runs a pub in the suburb of Dublin. The [Finnegans Wake], in which 60 different languages appear, is evaluated as most laborious and difficult work of James Joyce. [The Wake] started with intentions to create images that incorporated its reciprocating complexity and radicalism based on the humongous manipulation of language. Co-producers Michael Kvium and Christian Lemmerz explained that if Sigmund Freud interpreted dreams with language, [The Wake] reinterpreted Joyce’s dream language into images.
