¡à ¡¸One percent, one hundred percent¡¹, 2016 ¡à Concrete Damián Ortega's "One Percent, One Hundred Percent" explores how capital is concentrated and dispersed. Specifically, it visualizes population density and economic imbalance within the global context of large-scale urbanization. The artist was inspired by an interview with an economic expert who highlighted the value of the "informal economy," which includes unregistered real estate, bartering, and personal time during working hours—all of which are not captured in official statistics. After World War II, the British government issued certificates for informal assets to enable loans, thereby taxing and utilizing these funds for national reconstruction. It was revealed during this process that the total capital within the informal economy was comparable in scale to the entire banking system. The artwork reveals this underlying aspect of economic systems, offering a metaphorical representation of the current reality where massive capital is concentrated in specific regions, balancing it against the numerous small-scale capitals scattered across the globe.
