¡à ¡¸Reflected Landscape¡¹, 2023 ¡à Stainless steel, stone, tree, Dimensions variable Woo Jong-taek’s Reflected Landscape serves as a work that encapsulates the artist’s artistic philosophy, which sought to explore the essence of nature through reflective contemplation. The fluid form of the sculpture, reminiscent of flowing water, seemed to transpose the spontaneous and expressive brushstrokes seen in his paintings into three-dimensional space. The smoothly polished stainless steel material reflected the surrounding landscape, while its irregular and undulating surface distorted the imagery, blurring the boundary between reality and illusion. The reflected landscape, which never remained still for even a moment-shifting with the changes in season, weather, light, air movement, and the viewer’s position-raised profound questions about the existence and essence of being.
